I'chiliad but a few hours into the game, only am already frustrated. Walking through doors is a task and trying to melee something while the photographic camera turns to the front of my characters face up where I cannot run into the thing I'm trying to melee is a mess. Also, the camera seems way too zoomed in to the point I cannot see well beyond what's exactly in front of me.

My frustration led me to install Alan Wake, which I have never played and I went vi hours straight lol. The game feels a lot more fluid except for dodging at times. Anyone else have this terrible feel with TEW or is it just me? Am I missing something in the card options that can go far easier? Just feels rough.

If you think that's the frustrating role of TEW, look till you start with the bullshit one striking kill bosses.

Yeah I just finished TEW1 and thought it was very unpolished. Felt annoying to play. Hopefully TEW2 is a bit better in this regard considering I got it for Christmas haha.

It does feel clunky, mostly on purpose. If you're playing on PC removing the horizontal confined and adjusting FOV might help with the claustrophobic view simply controlling the character will feel the same.

Yup I've already experienced this and the solution is to just run, merely having to exercise that with terrible movement makes it nearly unbearable. Non sure if I'thou going to finish it at present that I'grand having a blast with Alan Wake.

I don't really information technology existence that bad. And then once again its been years so perchance I just don't remember. I thought TEW2 aiming felt similar shit though. Took awhile to get used to it. Aim upgrades seem to have helped only might have simply been placebo and me getting used to it.

Melee is pretty useless in these games. Wish it were more similar RE in that respect with the crowd control options when you staggered an enemy.

Information technology controls fine for the kind of game it is. Congrats on non playing many games if these are the worst controls you lot've encountered, OP.

It's not the best, but it is manageable. Personally, I oasis't had too many issues. The sequel has much better camera imo

The camera and controls are fine though? It'southward meant to feel claustrophobic, just the actual controls are more than than functional and the camera is only an outcome in boss fights and even then not near equally bad as something like MGR.

The constant forced slow cinematic walking and random-random area hoping really pissed me off.

The best chip imo was basically when they were aping RE4's village, and fifty-fifty then information technology wasn't equally skillful.

When you come across the people that get invisible is what makes it crap tier imo. Hitting you in the back while trying to spin around and hit them is rough. Just feels clunky.

Nope. Beyond Good & Evil takes that crown.

Are you playing on PC or consoles? Considering the console versions take some framerate issues and the controls are kinda sluggish. I disliked the low FOV and the original letterboxing, but I never really had whatsoever issues moving and shooting on PC.

When you encounter the people that get invisible is what makes it crap tier imo. Hitting yous in the dorsum while trying to spin around and hit them is crude. Just feels clunky.
I played on the highest default difficulty and didn't dice once to them despite dying over 80 times throughout the form of the game. That department to me was much more about tension than actual danger, lol.

But the Evil Within's roughness seems a common thread among many despite me never getting that impression and then yous're hardly alone.

Edit: Despite actually liking the sequel the decision to limit enemies to 5 seconds of detection before forgetting y'all ruined so much of the tension in the more open areas.

The Evil Inside camera doesn't hold a candle to Yakuza Dead Souls.

Just I love both of them.

This game had a ton of issues, like the camera and controls. People say the sequel is better, but the first game is so bad I tin can't bring myself to attempt it.

I'm in thst position where I recognize how people could have major problems with the camera/controls, but for some reason it never bothered me. I think it feels "off" in just the right amount for it to add together to the atmosphere/tension, as opposed to just feeling like outright jank.
People say the sequel is ameliorate, only the first game is so bad I tin can't bring myself to endeavor it.
Honestly I thought the camera/aiming was much worse in TEW2, just I played on PS4 at launch, information technology's possible stuff has been patched upward since then.

I finished TEW for the first fourth dimension a few days agone and honestly had zero problems with the camera and I think the game controls OK.
I was only quite annoyed at 1 boss, which I recall was poorly designed, just thought it'south a skillful game overall.

I had no bug with the control/camera whatsoever. If that's the worst for you you must not have played many games in your life.

Sure information technology's bad because other games at the time simply information technology'southward not the worst. First 3D games like PS1/N64 era had some...interesting camera work.

The aiming in particular is worse in the sequel, but I wouldn't say I had any major bug with the controls in either game

Honestly the second game is so much better than the first. Said as someone who fell off the commencement after 4'ish hours of gameplay and had cypher involvement in the 2nd because of it. I received ii as a gift and I've genuinely been loving information technology, information technology's a vast improvement over the 1st. Beloved the open up surface area design letting you approach combat how you see fit, and the world design is brilliant.

It is (well imo) and you don't demand to finish the first one to play the second. I am a huge fan of the first game and the second is meliorate in every aspect. Also the story gives yous enough info to understand what happened in the first one.

yup, Final Guardian is considerably worse as far equally controls/camera is concerned. Although I do much prefer it to Evil Within

Beaten it like seven-eight times on PC, have no problem with the controls/camera at all

Imo TEW 1 is overall the improve game in near every aspect. Especially the gameplay.

If you desire tide gameplay mechanics which are well polished play the first ane.
If you don't really intendance about the gameplay, just want to experience a story play the 2nd i.

Also:

Again: Information technology's merely my stance

Yous don't have to turn your character all the way effectually, simply point the photographic camera in their management and aim, he'll automatically turn to face them.

yeah that was kind of rough

the only case of a worse camera in a like game I can think was Alan Wake

super shaky and move-sickness inducing, never got used to it. In TEW I eventually did
